Which Substances are restricted?
There are maximum permitted levels of lead, mercury, cadmium, haxavalent and chromium in electronic and electrical equipment. The EU has recently announced an exemption for polybyphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).

Banned substances include: asbestos, azo compounds, cadmium and cadmium compounds, ethylene glycol ethers and related compounds, halogenated dioxins and flurans, hexavalent chromium compounds, lead and lead compounds , with exceptions, mercury and mercury compounds, ozone depleting substances, radioactive substances, short chain chlorinated paraffins, tributyltin, bis (tributyltin) oxide, triphenyltin, and other organic tin compounds.
